Our Community and Charity Work

There’s no point saying you’re a socially responsible business unless you truly walk the walk. At Whitehall Resources we’re deeply driven to make a real difference to our community, create new jobs for local people, back a range of charities and work hard to protect our environment.

So every year we support one local cause and one international charity, and hardly a week goes past without another team member taking on a personal challenge to raise funds for causes that are important to them.

We’re proud of being a socially responsible business, because when we give back it makes Whitehall Resources a better place to be.

Local support: main sponsor, Colchester RFC

You won’t find a more competitive team than ours, and it makes us ideal sponsors of Colchester Rugby Club and Elite Sponsors of its First XV.

We love turning out on Saturdays to see the team proudly wearing a Whitehall Resources branded kit. Our investment in the club is a major asset that helps it thrive, so come and join us as we cheer them on each Saturday!

We are delighted that Whitehall Resources sponsor our First XV, which is again competing for promotion to National League rugby. As a thriving community club we run four senior teams and have around 600 juniors playing rugby every weekend. Colchester Rugby Club endeavours to support our local community and contribute regularly to charities, so it is fantastic to have the support of a company that shares our values.

Andy Wadling, President of Colchester RFC

Just wanted to thank you for the fantastic support Whitehall gave the event yesterday in so many ways. Your team of volunteers were amazing and are a real credit to you.

We’re international IT recruiters and we help talented people worldwide secure positions in leading companies. So when it comes to social responsibility, we take a global view.

In 2013/14, we sponsored Colchester Sixth Form College student Arabella Watkins, who spent three weeks over the Christmas period volunteering in Southern India – with the support of the Russ Foundation. While there, she helped teach adults and children English at the charity’s schools and took part in fieldwork exercises, digging to improve irrigation and improve crop yield.

You can read more about Arabella’s work in India here, which was made possible thanks to our sponsorship:

One thing the Expedition and Berlin himself taught me is to do the right thing, rather than just what is easy. Similarly, the children showed me how to be grateful for the opportunities I have and how to keep smiling no matter what.

I would sincerely like to thank everyone at Whitehall Resources for all of their help, support and encouragement. They have been brilliant from day one and I could not have hoped for a more kind and generous sponsor.

International support highlights

  • Sponsoring SAP UK’s charity entry into a rally event in India. The rally car was branded with our logo and donated to charity after the event.
  • Protecting the Environment

We work hard and play hard – and while we do it we aim to minimise the impact we have on the environment. Our most recent initiative is to promote car-pooling across the office, and have a target of at least 50% of colleagues who travel by car to arrive in a vehicle with more than one person in it. We have also replaced traditional Christmas cards with an e-card, and used the revenue saved on printing and postage to offset our carbon footprint.
