Whitehall partnership with Colchester Rugby Club continues

We are proud headline sponsors of the Colchester Rugby Club since 2014 and we continue to work together impacting the lives of hundreds of children and adults across 20 local teams.

Our sponsored team, the 1st XV, started the season with a win against Shelford in the London and South East Division of the Rugby Football Union last weekend.

Margaret Whiteman, the club’s first female President: “Despite losing out by the smallest of margins last year for promotion, the 1st XV are going all out to get there this year with a new Head Coach Ben Scully, a new Captain Danny Whiteman and a strong team of experienced and new players.”

Mrs Whiteman is an advocate for rugby as a sport for all, introducing weekly training sessions for ladies and girls recently and is currently working with the management team in preparation of moving to their new club grounds in 2020.

We wish the best of luck to all the teams in their training for the upcoming season.

Fundraising Midnight Walk for St Helena

The Whitehall team attended the annual Midnight Walk held in Colchester last Saturday night to fundraise for St Helena. a charity that helps people and their families to face incurable illness and bereavement.

Ten of our team members completed the challenge, that started at the business park and took participants around Colchester for nine miles and back to the starting point.  A memory tree was also set up on the route at the Colchester Rugby Club, where those walking in-memory of friends and family had the opportunity to leave a personal tag.

The atmosphere at the event was very cheerful, with over 800 people of all ages joining the Hawaiian-themed party and the Zumba warm-up session at the meeting point before heading out to the streets, and although they walked until the early hours of Sunday, they kept the spirits up. At the finish line, they were rewarded with a medal from St Helena and delicious donuts.

We would like to thank our Whitehall team and all the participants for taking part, as well as everyone who donated via our Justgiving page. We are very pleased to have exceeded our fundraising target, collecting over £1,000 to support St Helena’s work.

Santa makes his last delivery through the Whitehall Jingle-Jetpack game

The Whitehall Jingle-Jetpack game tested our candidates’ and clients’ video game skills and spiced up the festive season in 2018. Players from 21 countries competed for the first place in the leaderboard – with the prize of a £250 donation to the winner’s charity of their choice. Thank you to all the participants for such a great response. The winner has been contacted!

We thank everyone for participating and demonstrating your gaming skills, and we look forward to sharing more festive fun in 2019.

Supporting our community

Our community is important to us, and although 2018 was a busy year, we wanted to make sure we took the time to support those who need it the most.

Last year, our Whitehall team has worked together to donate food, clothes and toys, as well as raising money for various charity organisations.

Some of our fundraising events in 2018:

We wore our pyjamas to work on “Pjs Day” to raise money for the Great Ormond Street Hospital, who offer the UK’s widest range of specialist health services for children. We also made a donation of toys and clothes for the children at the hospital.

Our four-legged friends spent the day with us at the office as part of the well-being program and to create awareness and raise money for the National Animal Welfare Trust.

Every year, we host a Halloween party in support of St Helena, an organisation that helps people facing incurable illnesses and bereavement. This year, our Ghoulfest consisted of a bake-off, a fancy dress competition and games such as Donuts of Doom, Apple Bobbing and a raffle.

The Foodbank in Colchester is a local organisation that helps people in poverty with emergency food supplies.  Our team has kindly donated non-perishable goods for this local cause and delivered our collection to their local warehouse.

This year’s Christmas Jumper Day was dedicated to raise awareness of eye cancer and the impact that can also have on the liver of those affected with this illness. The relationship between eye and liver cancer is not yet clear, therefore we raised money to support the research currently taking place at Moorfield Eye Hospital.

Our annual Ghoulfest for St Helena

Our annual fundraising Halloween event in aid of St Helena took place at the Colchester office this week, with a best fancy dress competition and a range of games like Apple Bobbing and Donuts of Doom. We also held a bake-off competition (that proved that recruiters are very talented bakers) and a raffle with a selection of prizes donated by local businesses, whose contributions were key in helping us fund raise for St Helena:

We help CRFC kick off their new season

We have been proud first team sponsors of Colchester Rugby Football Club since 2014. Our partnership has led to the continued development of local sports facilities used by over 600 youth’s every year. As well as preparing for the upcoming season, the club is well underway with their plans to move to a new stadium that will be part of a multi-million-pound sports complex. With an estimated build completion date of 2019/20, we teamed up with the club to fund a new addition to their current stadium. On Tuesday 28th August our Managing Director, Tremayne Hall and Finance Manager, Matthew Sturman went to Mill Road to do the honours and cut the ribbon of the new pitchside bar.

The bar saw it’s first proper use for Colchester’s first game of the season against Diss where CRFC claimed a confident victory, reflected by the 55-5 scoreline!

We wish CRFC the best of luck for the season ahead, and hope that everyone enjoys the new pitchside bar!

Over £1100 raised in support of a friend of Whitehall

This year our Halloween celebrations were focused on raising money for Southampton Hospital’s cancer department. Their oncology unit is a leader in cancer research and treatment development, one of only 12 regional cancer centres in the UK, serving a population of around 1.7 million. Ghoulfest was organised by Sarah and Sophie to show our recognition and support of the departments’ services. By the end of the day, we’d raised over £1100!

We kicked off the morning with a highly participated Halloween themed best-dressed competition. Congratulations to the Best Dressed Female, Charlie (Sally, Nightmare on Elm Street) and Best Dressed Male, Luke (Teen Wolf), who won themselves a Thorntons hamper.

The Ghoulfest bake-off saw some impressive creations, but it was the creative baking by Chloe that took the number one spot. Her gravestone themed cake not only looked good but was a firm winner for taste with the judges.

Apple-bobbing, Splat the Spider, Mummy Ten-Pin and a raffle offered more prizes up for grabs for those who contributed by taking part. We’d like to thank all of the businesses that donated the brilliant prizes in support of Southampton Hospitals cancer department.
