Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer

The Role:

The Client is seeking a full stack software engineer to develop an internal facing support platform for their program management, engineering team and customer support staff to support internal and external customers.

Key Tasks:

– Work will include building a front-end portal (React); integration with several backend web services (C#); integration and evolution of existing toolsets; extension/creation of new services to support additional scenarios.
– Delivery will include full monitoring and end to end testing of the platform.
– The candidate will be expected to review designs and code with other members of the team and participate in other team members code reviews.

Key Requirements:

– Coding skills – the client will be assessing these from the start with the candidate asked to write code to solve problems. You must be able to produce readable, accurate code and communicate your thinking throughout. This will also include assessment of choice of algorithms.

– Design – the client expects evidence of design work where the candidate has actually designed service/application/component and can show evidence of this. You will be expected to be able to talk about how you moved through the design phase, took feedback, adjusted course and took this to implementation yourself or through others. Also expect to cover different levels of testing – e.g. unit testing, integration testing.

– JavaScript – the client will be looking for evidence of use of a JavaScript framework e.g. React, Angular, Vue in some professional capacity. Expect JavaScript specific questions as well as general coding questions.

– C# – same as above – they have asked for C# specifically so you must be able show knowledge.

Requirements, continued:

– 5+ years professional software development
– Strong communication skills are required (verbal and written) and both design and implementation work will be required.
– The ideal candidate must be able to work both as part of an agile engineering team and individually on projects with limited day to day oversight.
– Proven professional engineering experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular and Vue (React preferred)
and C#

Key Skills/Technologies:

– JavaScript (deep proven professional experience) and frameworks like React
– C# and web services on Azure
– Cloud experience (Azure or AWS)
– Excellent software engineering habits, including peer code reviews, object-oriented design, unit testing, integration testing
– Knowledge of JavaScript technologies and build tools such as Typescript, Bootstrap, Gulp, Grunt, Webpack
– Application design patterns and anti-patterns
– Agile dev ops experience including building CI/CD pipelines
– Implementing messaging patterns and application integration techniques
– Application development and deployment experience with cloud services (e.g. Azure, AWS)

Nice to Have Skills:

– End to end test frameworks and automation.
– Familiarity with Test Cafe.
– Mobile device testing (real and emulated).
