PMO Lead

Whitehall Resources are currently looking for a PMO Lead based in Cheshire for an initial 6-month contract.

Main Responsibilities:
– Effectively manage portfolio roadmaps
– Facilitate and coordinate the efforts of T&D Leadership Team toward the establishment of demand management and strategic alignment of projects and programmes to portfolio categories and criteria, through evaluation, selection and prioritization, to execution, tracking and measuring the achieved results
– Ensure the oversight and coordination of dependencies across the projects and programmes in the portfolio and resolve or escalate conflicts
– Manage prioritization, resourcing and scheduling of learning technology requests working with business and IT. Drive vendor evaluation and selection for new solutions
– Manage stakeholder relationships
– Ensure governance of the project lifecycle
– Conduct regular meetings with T&D Portfolio and Strategy Planning Lead to inform and alert them of any issues arising from the performance of the individual projects within the portfolio to assure the on-plan usage and consumption of resources and funding, and to highlight any variances
– Lead reviews on significant initiatives, projects, or programmes that are a challenge and provide recommendation as to whether it should continue, be significantly changes, placed on hold or discontinued
– Oversee and successfully implement portfolio of projects
– Work with project teams to manage/oversee the full range of project lifecycle (initiative, plan, execute and close) for projects covering a portfolio of T&D projects. Create strategies for risk mitigation and formulate complex project/programme plans and schedules.
– Support with senior executive steering committee level presentations
– Portfolio management milestone plans and resource allocation
– Manage the PMO team, ensuring team resources are allocated to priorities, activities are undertaken to a high standard
– Support Programme and project team members to develop business cases for new projects
– In conjunction with project managers, support the practices to articulate benefits and monitoring the realization of benefits

Key Skills:
– Experience in programme/project management
– Strong networking, communication and relationship-building skills, with experience of collaborating and sharing knowledge between diverse teams
– Ability to interpret and communicate technical information in business language
– Proven track record in delivering high-pace programmes/projects and decision making
– Excellent business engagement and acumen, with sensitivity to political/economic environment
– Experience of managing and controlling a budget
– Experience of applying policies, procedures and guidelines within a quality and compliance environment
– Experience of working within Matrix project teams, including virtual working with teams across a number of regions
